How EncaptureMD Was Born
"Why do I have to pay so much for transcription?!" "Why does it take so long to get a report to the chart?"
Our business administrator asked these questions in 1998. We agreed. We also knew the magnitude of the problem. Doctors don't like change, don't want to be forced to do something a certain way and certainly don't want to spend even more of our time doing busy work.
Medical reporting at that time was a combination of dictation, handwritten notes, numerous phone calls to get results and hours of filing, checking and re-checking reports before they were released, often after the patient had been discharged from the hospital.
With backgrounds in cardiology/medicine, engineering, computer science and informatics we set out to create a system doctors would want to use. One that made their work more efficient, more accurate and more consistent. Our first systems, which are still in use after 16 years, have been used to interpret hundreds of thousands of procedures.
